Silver diamine fluoride (SDF) has been used in Japan for over 70 years, with more than two million units sold. While we continue to promote the use of dental sealants and Atraumatic Restorative Treatment (ART), applying SDF is equally effective and has the added benefit of being easily administered by a trained nurse in an appropriate clinical setting.
