and hear is my STORY

After nearly 40 years in general dentistry, I created this resource to emphasize the importance of prevention in dental health. By taking responsibility for our oral health, we can support one another and avoid costly, long-term treatments. Prevention is always more effective, more affordable, and longer-lasting than cure.

The videos below discuss a challenging children's general anaesthetic session at the practice and how the NHS nearly bankrupted me. This experience motivated me to focus on preventive care and minimal invasive dentistry using a scanner. I also encountered significant challenges when selling my business to a corporate, and then working for them, which inspired me to leave the service I'd enjoyed and promote prevention instead.

My vision is to promote public prevention in oral health to preserve valuable NHS resources. We need to make the public aware of how gum health is related to general health. We can can help by giving them their BPE, and your App explains what it is, and how to improve it.

This video was created by Scott Baker, a lifelong patient learning to navigate new communication tools, like his dentist. Developed in 2018, the teeth4life App incorporates feedback from patients who completed surveys about their requirements. Thank you to everyone who contributed in Stockwood, Bristol.
