Marketing Health. What do you think?

While I'm not sure who the original Easter Bunny was, Cadbury's innovative marketing played a significant role in popularising the tradition of chocolate Easter eggs in the UK and beyond, boosting profits in the process. Salman Rushdie famously coined the phrase “naughty but nice” to describe indulgences that are enjoyable yet unhealthy in excess.

I used to recommend mouthwash, but it never felt right to suggest replacing fluoride in toothpaste with fluoride from a liquid. We are increasingly aware that sodium hypochlorite is just as effective as chlorhexidine sodium hypochlorite at similar concentrations, yet it comes at a higher cost and only provides a transient effect, and they both taste similar, as in “Not Nice”

Most dental professionals I know don’t recommend mouthwash. So, while it might be deemed brave to ban the occasional promotion of chocolate—because it tastes so good—should we actively advise against mouthwashes?

The best mouthwash money can’t buy is Saliva, but we can promote it with sugar-free gum and sugar-free mints.

It’s a bit tricky marking health. I’m not doing well. After looking at my Analytics on Instagram, free_oral_health_app, the most hits are if I’ve fallen off my bike or skied in bad weather. Trying to market health is tricky, and social media doesn’t seem interested apart from me potentially getting wiped out🤨. I'll consider chopping off an ear for my Art.
